Florida Prepaid Spokesperson Shares Details On Program As Deadline Nears

If you have a baby at home, Sunday is the deadline to lock in a Florida Prepaid College plan.

Spokesperson Meredith Westheimer says the date was already put off by a month due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"We know that these are obviously stressful times and we wanted to make sure that anybody who was already interested in thinking that they were going to buy a prepaid plan this year that they still had some more time."

Even if the COVID-19 crisis has effected your financial situation, Westheimer says you should still be able to afford a plan for your child.

"Even though things seem so uncertain now, it won't be that way forever. College seems so far away, but if you could do something, even if it's not a full four years."

She says that plan prices are the lowest they've been in five years and prices start at $44 a month for a newborn. Also, the application fee is being waived and no payments need to be made until July 20th.

Westheimer says she's a testament to the power of the plan.

"I can attest that it is so great, thanks Mom, to graduate college debt-free because she had the foresight many many years ago to save for college ahead of time and make sure that college was essentially prepaid."

Now she's got plans for both of her young children.
