Florists are warning anyone planning on buying some fresh flowers for Mother's Day to be ready to spend more than usual. There's a shortage of flowers for today's annual holiday.

There are many factors, including the COVID-19 pandemic. Another reason is colder-than-usual weather in South America where many of the flowers are grown.

Some favorites, including orchids and gardenias, are not available. Because of that and the high demand for America's moms, prices are up between ten to twenty-five percent.
