The City of Boynton Beach appears ready to settle a lawsuit filed by the city's first Black deputy fire chief.

That's according to Mayor Steven Grant, who met with commissioners yesterday.

Latosha Clemons filed suit after her face was removed in a mural put up to honor the city's history, and replaced with a White face.

The former city employee says she was one of two Black firefighters whose faces were removed. A new version of the mural was later put up.

There's been no explanation as to why the faces were replaced, but Grant says it wasn't something that the city wanted done.

The city is expected to finalize the deal when the Commission meets next Tuesday.
