Another Day of Record Gas Prices

It just goes on and on. Gas prices are up another 7 cents, on the average, in Florida today, and, at $4.47 per gallon, are 28 cents higher than a week ago, and are higher than the national average.

AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said "Right now what's driving prices is the expectation that demand for the summer driving season is going to be much higher than last year. You couple that with lower supplies domestically, and stronger demand internationally."

Gas prices are up $1.57 from a year ago, and diesel prices have nearly doubled over the past year.

Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried issued an emergency order on Wednesday that allows the sale of gasoline with 15% ethanol, a blend normally sold only during the winter months.
