Rays Rally Late To Defeat Tigers on Friday Night

The Tampa Bay Rays (57-49) defeated the Detroit Tigers (42-66) 5-3 in Detroit on Friday night. The Rays have now won three in a row, including the first two games against the Tigers to start the road trip.

After the Tigers got a single run in the first, Riley Greene hit a two-run homer in the second that gave the Tigers an early 3-0 lead.

The Rays began to come back with a RBI double from David Peralta in the fifth and a RBI single from Brandon Lowe in the sixth. Lowe came through again in the eighth, hitting the go-ahead two-run double that gave the Rays a 4-3 lead. Isaac Paredes added some insurance moments later with a single to drive in Lowe and the Rays would make the score 5-3.

Corey Kluber allowed three earned runs on seven hits in six innings that saw him strike out five and walk none. Jalen Beeks (2-1, 2.45) picked up the win out of the bullpen.

The Rays now look to win a four game series against the Tigers on Saturday night. First pitch Saturday is scheduled for 6:10 PM - Neil Solondz begins pregame coverage at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
