Lightning Beat Devils Again

The Tampa Bay Lightning (41-22-6) defeated the New Jersey Devils (44-17-7) 4-3 on Thursday evening in Newark. The win gives Tampa Bay two wins in three nights over the Devils in New Jersey.

Tied 1-1 in the second period, the Devils got a two minute 5-on-3 midway through the second period. Moments after the Lightning killed off the penalty without allowing a score, Steven Stamkos scored to make it 2-1 in what was a big sequence in the game.

Timo Meier scored twice in the third period for the Devils - including on the power play at the 17:44 mark that tied the game 3-3 and forced overtime. After neither team was able to capitalize in overtime, the Bolts won the shootout 2-1 to win the game 4-3.

The Lightning now return home for two games at Amalie Arena this weekend. They next are on the ice when they host the Montreal Canadiens - puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
