Tis the season to travel, but if you plan to fly with a gun, there are rules to follow.

Florida is a permitless carry state, but the TSA says that law does not apply at the airport.

BSO Sgt. Toni Hopkins says some travelers are confused and try to bring their gun through an airport security checkpoint.

The TSA says just this year, since the permitless carry law went into effect, more than 200 guns have been confiscated at South Florida airport security checkpoints, 750 statewide.

Passengers can travel with a firearm, but it must be unloaded, locked in a hard case, declared and checked with your baggage.

The fine for carrying a gun through a Florida airport security checkpoint, $15,000.
