A Florida man was arrested for allegedly making written threats against Donald Trump and JD Vance. The Jupiter Police Department said that 68-year-old Michael Wiseman made several posts on Facebook in which he threatened to kill Trump, Vance, and their families.

Authorities said they were alerted to the disturbing posts by members of the community. Jupiter Police Department Deputy Chief Michael Barbera told WPBF that the recent assassination attempt on Trump added an extra sense of urgency to the reports, especially because Jupiter is just a 30-minute drive from Trump's Mar-a-Lago home.

"We take all threats to human beings seriously here at the Jupiter Police Department, but given what happened a couple of days ago, we took it a step further," Barbera told the news station.

Working with the Secret Service and the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office, the Jupiter Police Department located Wiseman and took him into custody without incident. Officials noted that he did not have any weapons when he was arrested.

Wiseman admitted to writing the posts but did not say why he made them.

Wiseman is facing a felony charge of written threats to kill, which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
