After his federal trial for attempting to assassinate President Trump, Ryan Routh will be facing state charges in the case.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier took to social media site "X" this morning to announce that he is charging Ryan Routh with attempted first degree murder and a terrorism charge for the incident at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach last September.

Uthmeier says this took over 200 days because of the previous administration in Washington.

"Biden and his attorney general sought to frustrate our efforts and block our investigation into the man who crossed into this state and attempted to commit political violence against a Florida resident."

Just this week, the DOJ revealed text messages that they say show Routh, a resident of Hawaii, was trying to purchase a rocket launcher from someone he thought was a Ukrainian arms dealer in order to keep Trump from getting elected.

Routh heads to his federal trial in September. It will be presided over by Judge Aileen Cannon in Fort Pierce.

He's accused of hiding out in the bushes just outside of Trump International , while pointing a rifle through a fence that faced the golf course where then-candidate Donald Trump was playing golf.
