Federal Trial Begins In Miami In Redistricting Lawsuit

Federal trial begins today in a suit challenging three State House Districts in South Florida and a Congressional district in Southwest Florida. ACLU Attorney Nicholas Warren says the districts should be deemed illegal because they're racially gerrymandered. He accuses the legislature of creating noncompact districts to undermine fair representation. Governor Ron DeSantis has called for a special redistricting session in April which many say could give the GOP a boost ahead of the 2026 midterms.
