Jewish Leaders and Law Enforcement Discuss Safety for Houses of Worship

Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony stresses there have been no specific threats to the area.

"Reality is, lone cells, sleeper cells, whatever terminology you want to use, exist. And so it's important for us to stay in the front end of threat mitigation," said Tony.

Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz says houses of worship and community centers can apply for more than $400 million in grants for hardening but more needs to be done.

"It is woefully an inadequate amount, especially given the explosive rise in anti-Semitism and bigotry. Attacks that we've seen on some of these institutions and individuals," she said.

Wasserman Shultz says she wants more funding appropriated and bureaucracy cut so the funds are distributed faster.
