School District Says Graduations Are NOT Canceled

The Palm Beach County School District is clarifying a letter sent to high school seniors on Tuesday in which he writes that he has decided to "cancel this year's graduation ceremonies at the South Florida Fairgrounds."

A day later, the district announced that graduations have not been canceled.

In a statement, the district said that the announcement regarding graduations was not that they are canceled outright, it was to inform parents and seniors that ceremonies will not be taking place at the fairgrounds.

Superintendent Donald Fennoy's Tuesday letter also stated that diplomas would be mailed out to graduates. He also said he would not discount exploring other options as they continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19.

The district says it is working with principals and student government representatives on other commencement opportunities.
