USF to May Grads: Virtual Commencement First, Then the Physical

TAMPA -- The University of South Florida's plan to recognize May graduates has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

USF announced Tuesday that it will hold a virtual commencement in May for each campus, and mail degrees to graduates. It'll follow up with expanded in-person summer commencement ceremonies to allow spring graduates a chance to take part. Those events are tentatively set for August 6th through 9th, depending on guidance from public health officials.

According to a news release, USF is also developing creative plans for graduates to interact from afar via social media. The university will also make printed copies of the spring commencement ceremony program available to graduates upon request.
