West Palm Beach Mayor Pledges To Commit To Addressing Racial Inequality

A day after a former cop was convicted of murdering George Floyd in Minneapolis, a task force on racial and ethnic equality in West Palm Beach announced plans to improve race relations and opportunities within minority communities.

Mayor Keith James established the group last summer, after Floyd's death sparked civil unrest nationwide.

"The task force is consistent with my vision of working to make West Palm Beach a community of opportunity for all."

He says the task force is committed to improvement in criminal justice, business, health, education and housing.

One official says their first priority is to create a diverse team of police officers in the city.
