A beach cleanup on tap at Crandon Park as Miami-Dade celebrates Earth Day. The Community Resilience Pod also having a relaunching of sorts at Zoo Miami-since it was introduced in the midst of the pandemic. Miami-Dade Parks spokeswoman Patty Abril says the pod -which is the first of its kind in the country---is a transformed 40-foot shipping container equipped with solar power, a hydroponics system and cooling station. The pod can be themed to meet the changing needs of the community-last summer it was used as a food distribution site for those in need during the pandemic.
