A Florida man is facing an attempted murder charge after he stabbed his neighbor during an argument over a car's loud muffler.
Alex Jean Mistivar, 43, was arrested in Dania Beach on Sunday after he stabbed his neighbor over the noise complaint at a multi-family home on Southwest 14th Street.
Witness Ruth Plancher said she saw a large police presence in the area following the attack, telling NBC Miami "I heard something about a stabbing, there was like a lot of blood. Basically I came home, my mom said 'somebody got stabbed,' there were helicopters involved."
The victim was rushed to a local hospital where he remains in the intensive care unit in critical condition.
During his first court appearance, Mistivar's attorney claimed the attack was self-defense.
Mistivar was ordered held without bond.
