Florida's DeSantis Declares Win Over Ben and Jerry's Over Israel Boycott

TALLAHASSEE -- It took a year but Governor Ron DeSantis is declaring victory against Ben and Jerry's boycott of sales of its ice cream on the West Bank through an Israeli distributor.

The ice cream's parent company, Unilever, reversed the boycott by selling Ben and Jerry's business in Israel.

Florida and other states had dumped Unilever from pension funds under laws that ban the Boycott, Divestiture and Sanctions movement against Israel. The laws bar states from doing any business with a company engaged in BDS.

On Twitter, DeSantis called the devision "a step in the right direction" but he is "disappointed" they took a year to take the stand.

As for Ben and Jerry's, it says that it does "not agree" with the decision by its parent company. The management decided a year ago to stop selling in what it called "Occupied Palestinian Territories."
