Florida Group Starts Rescue Operation In Israel For Americans

TAMPA -- A Florida-based nonprofit founded and staffed by veterans of recent conflicts says it's deploying resources to Israel to rescue Americans and citizens of allied nations trapped by the fighting, or being held hostage by Hamas.

Project Dynamo, a privately funded international rescue organization led by veterans, says "Operation: Promised Land" is using ground assets in the region to support its US-based operations team for potential evacuation and hostage rescues, CEO Bryan Stern says Dynamo has intelligence networks in Israel, the Palestinian territories and neighboring countries.

Stern says he already has several dozen requests to help individuals who can't get out of the country. He urges people with loved ones in danger to register at his website and with the State Department.

More than 700 Israelis and more than 400 Palestinians have been killed in fighting since Saturday, when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel. At least two thousand people on each side are reported wounded, and an unknown number of Israelis and those ot other nationalities have been taken hostage by Hamas and other groups.
