School Counselor Arrested for Alleged Inappropriate Encounter with Minor

Jupiter, FL - A 25-year-old aftercare counselor at Jupiter Farms Elementary School has been arrested after being found in a compromising situation with a minor.

According to the Jupiter Police Department, Sebastiano Scionti was arrested on Wednesday after an officer conducting a routine patrol at Indian Creek Park discovered Scionti inside of a parked car with a teenage girl.

Upon inspection of the vehicle, the officer witnessed the teen adjusting her clothing as she moved from the rear seat to the front seat of the vehicle.

The officer, noting the inappropriate location for such activities, requested their ages.

Scionti told the officer he was 25, and the young woman initially stated that she was 18, but the officer suspected that she appeared younger.

A subsequent check of their IDs revealed the girl was only 17 years old.

According to the arrest report, the victim disclosed that she knew Scionti from middle school and recently reconnected with him.

While the teen asserted that they didn't engage in sexual intercourse, she did admit that they were physically intimate.

The officer contacted the teen's father, who expressed his desire to press charges against Scionti and raised concerns about Scionti's employment at Jupiter Farms Elementary School.

Scionti was arrested on charges of lewd and lascivious behavior and unlawful sexual activity with a minor, leading to his incarceration at the Palm Beach County Jail with no bond.

A court order prohibits him from contacting the victim or anyone under the age of 18.

Jupiter Farms Elementary School Principal Suzanne Matuella notified parents, guardians, and staff about Scionti's arrest, assuring them that he is no longer employed by the school.
