Port Charlotte, FL - A Southwest Florida native won the silver medal during the inaugural mixed team skeet competition at the 2024 Summer Olympics on Monday.

Port Charlotte native Vincent Hancock fell short of his fifth Olympic gold medal on Monday, settling for silver in the inaugural mixed team skeet competition.

Partnering with Austen Smith, the American duo was edged out by Italy during a thrilling finale.

The Italians, Gabriele Rossetti and Diana Bacosi, won the gold medal with a score of 45-44.

Hancock, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, had previously won the men's individual skeet event.

The silver medal marks the first time in his career that he has not won gold at the Olympics.

Hancock praised Smith's performance and expressed pride in their team's efforts.
