Largo, FL - Three people, including two children and a 78-year-old woman, have died following a tragic two-vehicle collision that also left a University of Miami football player injured.
According to authorities, the acciden occurred Saturday evening near the intersection of Ridge Road and Orangeview Drive.
Local police say a Kia Soul driven by Gail Price, 78, collided with a Dodge Durango reportedly operated by 20-year-old Adarius Hayes, a linebacker for the Miami Hurricanes.
Officials confirmed that Price passed away from her injuries the following day.
Two young children, ages 10 and 4, who were riding in the Kia, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Another passenger, identified as 58-year-old Herbert Rivera, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Hayes, who was driving the Durango, was also taken to a nearby medical center with non-life-threatening injuries.
As of now, he has not been charged, and no allegations of criminal conduct have been made against him.
Authorities noted that preliminary findings showed no signs of drug or alcohol impairment in either driver.
The crash remains under active investigation, and police have asked witnesses or anyone with additional information to come forward.
While the full cause of the collision has yet to be determined.
No criminal charges have been filed and police are continuing to examine all factors involved in the deadly crash.
