Alachua County, FL - A man who allegedly fired shots at deputies while barricading himself in an apartment near the University of Florida campus has been fatally shot by law enforcement.
According to the Alachua County Sheriff's Office, around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a campus alert was issued warning those in the area of gunfire on Northwest 9th Terrace, near the university.
The alert later confirmed that shots were fired near the main HR building at 903 West University Avenue, where a suspect had barricaded himself inside a unit.
The sheriff's office stated that the suspect was holed up in an apartment on Northwest 9th Street.
The HR building was evacuated, and it was announced that the building would remain closed for the day.

Deputies were attempting to serve a felony narcotics warrant to the man when he allegedly fired a shot at them.
No deputies were injured. As the suspect barricaded himself, law enforcement evacuated others from the building for safety.
Later, the suspect fired additional rounds at the SWAT team, prompting deputies to return fire, fatally shooting the man.
