Miami Gardens, FL - A Miami Gardens woman was fatally injured in an alleged dog attack while walking to work on Labor Day.

The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 72-year-old Doreen Broadbelt.

Officials determined that the cause of death was “dog mauling,” and the manner of death was listed as an accident.

Miami Gardens Police responded to the scene Monday morning near Northwest 14th Court and Northwest 196th Terrace after reports of a woman suffering from multiple injuries consistent with dog bites.

Officers found Broadbelt severely injured and pronounced her dead at the scene.

Family members said Broadbelt was on her way to her shift at Walmart, where she had worked for 13 years, when the incident occurred.

Her daughter, Shelley Ann Williams, described Broadbelt as a caring and helpful person who always supported others.

Miami-Dade Animal Services confirmed that the dogs involved have not yet been located.

It is unclear whether the animals were strays or had owners. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Police emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.

Residents are encouraged to report any information about the dogs to local authorities.

The incident is being treated as an accident by the medical examiner, and officials are working to identify the animals responsible to prevent similar incidents in the future.
