Sunrise, FL - A Powerball ticket sold in Florida won a seven figure prize as the national lottery jackpot continued its climb toward one of the largest payouts in U.S. history.

Lottery officials confirmed that a ticket purchased in Sunrise, Florida matched all five white ball numbers in the latest Powerball drawing, resulting in a $1 million prize.

The ticket missed the red Powerball number, which prevented it from winning the jackpot. No tickets nationwide matched all six numbers, causing the grand prize to roll over once again.

The Florida Lottery reported the winning ticket was sold at a grocery store on Sunset Strip in Broward County.

Under Powerball rules, matching the five main numbers qualifies for the second tier prize of $1 million before taxes.

Multiple other $1 million tickets were also sold across several states in the same drawing.

With no jackpot winner, the Powerball prize increased to an estimated $1.7 billion for the next drawing, scheduled for Wednesday night.

If won, the prize would rank among the largest Powerball jackpots ever recorded.

Winners typically have the option of receiving the prize as a lump sum cash payment or as an annuity paid out over nearly three decades.

The estimated cash value for the upcoming drawing is approximately $780 million before taxes.

The winning numbers for the drawing were 3, 18, 36, 41 and 54, with a Powerball number of 7.

Powerball officials continue to remind players that the odds of winning the jackpot remain extremely long at roughly 1 in 292 million.

Tickets are sold in 45 states as well as Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
