PONTE VEDRA BEACH -- It's being called a senior prank, but it could lead to expulsion or criminal charges.
St. Johns County school officials say a dead shark was found hanging from the rafters above a staircase at Ponte Vedra High School Thursday morning.
State Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission agents are investigating the incident. They think five students hung the shark in the courtyard around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
A spokesperson for the district says the offense is a "Level 4," meaning expulsion or criminal referral are possibilities.
No arrests have been made in the case.
