Drowsy Driving Blamed for Deadly Crash on I-4

LAKELAND -- A woman is dead after a crash blamed on drowsy driving on Interstate 4.

The Florida Highway Patrol says a 41-year-old Orlando man fell asleep Tuesday morning around 6 a.m., driving a Lexus sedan eastbound just inside the Polk County line. His car drifted out of the right lane into the center lane, clipping the back of a pickup truck and slamming into concrete at the County Line Road overpass.

FHP says a woman passenger died in the crash. The driver and two other passengers suffered minor injuries. The pickup truck driver was not hurt.
