Transgender Residents May Be Required To Put Birth Sex On Florida ID Cards

Florida's transgender residents may soon be required to put their birth sex on their state ID cards. Transgender activist B.C. Skipalis worries this will just lead to more discrimination against people who are already being marginalized by the state. The Republican-controlled House Select Committee on Health Innovation approving House Bill 1639 putting Florida at odds with federal ID laws. It would also impose requirements for insurers who cover gender-affirming care.
